First for Furst

It’s always great to have a pilot come out to our local launch ~ Mt. St. Benedict and get that special experience

of introduction to that awesome smooth XC potential of the Miracle Valley.

Tom Furst was the only taker on a gorgeous mid September afternoon and I had the shuttle and guide duties.

This year Tom has been working on the finer art of cross country flying with a trip to Columbia and some nice Fraser Valley cross overs.

So as it turned out he was the only one who showed up he got the mini XC intro course.

Quick basic LZ’s orientations and some specific tips on where to fly in the light outflow conditions had him specking

out right after a solid launch!  Note the nice loading on the wing in the pic.

Then he had a super buoyant glide across the Miracle Valley towards the gravel pit and then back across to Virtue LZ.

Next round he took the Niviuk Icuma demo for a smooth flight down the south ridge line to Dewdney in the warm late summerair, then landed at the School LZ as he had to get back to the City.

He liked the sharp handling  and speed of course as the conditions were so sweet that he likely could have flown a comp wing and would have loved it!

Sometimes you get those special days and they stick in your memory…. I’ve got a few first’s in my memory bank!

Good times and more to come.
